The alumni game will be included with the Purple & Gold World Series and the annual 100-inning game.
MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois baseball will hold an alumni game on Homecoming weekend, Sunday, October 19. Game time is 11 a.m. at Alfred D. Boyer Stadium.

“Response from baseball alumni has been terrific,” said Western Illinois head baseball coach Stan Hyman. “Players from the ‘50s to the present are planning on playing or at least watching the game. It’s a great opportunity to see the new stadium, as well as catch up with former teammates and fellow baseball alumni.”

Following the alumni game, the 2008 varsity team will conclude its “Purple & Gold World Series” and 100-inning game fundraiser. All games are open to the public and attendance is free. A picnic reception will take place for baseball alumni in between games.

Due to construction of Boyer Stadium and field improvements during the last two falls, alumni games had been put on hold. Previously, such baseball greats as Rick and Paul Reuschel, Bob Watson, and Rick Short all played in alumni games.

All Western Illinois baseball alumni are encouraged to participate or attend this year’s event. Former players should contact the baseball office at 309/298-1521 to confirm their attendance.
