SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - As the Summit League's fourth-leading scorer (18.6 ppg) this season, Western Illinois senior David DuBois was named to the Summit League's All-Conference Second Team voted on by the league’s ten head coaches, sports information directors and selected media members, Thursday.
DuBois finished the season as Western's leading scorer with 17.9 points per game in all games and leading rebounder, averaging 5.9 rebounds per game. The senior finished his career with 21 games as Western's leading scorer and performed in 32 consecutive games with double-digit scoring for a total of 43 career double-digit scoring games. In the 2008-09 season, DuBois tallied at least 20 points in eight games and led Western on the boards in 13 games.
Others to join DuBois on the second team included Southern Utah's Davis Baker (18.2 ppg, 5th leading scorer in league play), Oakland's Keith Benson (16.6 ppg, 8th), IUPUI's Robert Glenn (16.7 ppg, 7th) and South Dakota State's Garrett Callahan (16.1 ppg, 10th). First team members included player of the year Ben Woodside (22.2 ppg, 1st), NDSU's Brett Winkelman (19.2 ppg, 3rd), Oral Roberts' Robert Jarvis (17.2 ppg, 6th) and Marcus Lewis (13.8 ppg, 13th) and Oakland's Johnathon Jones (12.9 ppg, 18th) and Erik Kangas (19.7 ppg, 2nd).
Newcomer of the year went to IUPUI's Robert Glenn, sixth man of the year went to IPFW's Deilvez Yearby and Chase Adams from Centenary earned the defensive player of the year. Saul Phillips earned the Summit League Coach of the Year award.
